We’re busy working on the books, but I thought I’d let you know about some fun things we have lined up for STEM heroes manga:
Comiket – Application sent and accepted to the lottery! Results coming in June (68%-ish chance of getting selected, fingers crossed!). The summer event will be in August. If we get through, I’ll let you know and you can come visit our booth and say hi in case you happen to be in Tokyo! If we don’t get picked, there’s always the winter event in December!
Human and robot – shaping the future is an exhibition organized by Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT) aimed at schools, that will take place from May to September (6,000 visitors expected). It will showcase the research techniques and work on human motion science conducted by researchers of this institution. The three sections, measure – analyze – move, that cover from raw data collection to the end applications and future perspectives, are presented in three separate spaces.
STEM heroes manga book 2, about robotics and artificial intelligence, is being done in collaboration with the Venture Lab from TUAT, so both books, 1 and 2, will be available at the exhibition store and we are planning to have the girls integrated in the actual exhibition as posters, pointing at things, asking questions or giving out fun facts, which links back to the books! I can’t wait to see this happening!
1st International Conference on Intercultural Dialogue through the Arts: Community Development, Education and Policy: I will be part of a panel on education through children’s books. So, I’ll be talking about a children’s book I wrote called “Grandad had an aneurysm” (catchy title or what?) and, of course, our favourite STEM girls!
